Haleigh Anderson

My name is Haleigh Anderson, and I am a mixed-media artist based in Des Moines, Iowa. I grew up in Des Moines and am proud to be part of such a vibrant and growing arts community! I received my BFA in Integrated Studio Arts from Iowa State University in 2021 and have been working towards establishing my independent art business for the last couple of years. Acrylic painting is what I do the most, but I also enjoy working with watercolor and paper collage.

I always begin my paintings with vibrant underpainting. This is a crucial element to my work and the color I choose comes through and complements the finished painting. I have experience painting a wide variety of subject matter which includes, but is not limited to, portraits, landscapes, food, still life, and animals.

Collage work is a relatively new interest that I developed during the pandemic. I assemble them using imagery, advertisements, and text recycled from old magazines and books. Items are individually cut using an X-Acto knife, then layered, applied, and sealed with glossy gel medium.

I have exhibited my work in multiple local shows and public spaces, including the 2022 Des Moines Arts Festival as an honorary Emerging Iowa Artist. Please refer to my website to see what events I have on my calendar and if you are interested in seeing more of my work!
